Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education (GCTE)

The Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education (GCTE) is offered to those who want a career as a university or tertiary education teacher. It is an award program that provides new or aspiring university or tertiary education teachers with the knowledge and skills to teach effectively within the tertiary education environment.

The Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education is offered as a cross-institutional Program. Two courses are offered by CQUniversity Australia, beginning in 2009, and completion of both is mandatory for CQUniversity staff in order to obtain the Award.

The GCTE at CQUniversity Australia consists of the following courses:

To obtain this award, you will also be required to complete two (2) electives from the following list of courses offered by the the remaining seven involved Universities:

  • Postgraduate Research Supervision
    (University of Canberra)
  • Teaching Activities
    (Murdoch University)
  • Action Learning Project

  • The Strategic Perspective in Teaching and Learning
    (University of Queensland)
  • Pathways in Tertiary Education
    (University of Ballarat)
